If you were among the capacity crowd that filtered into the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn for Pyer Moss’s standout show during New York Fashion Week, you may have wondered who that baby-voiced singer in the crushed velvet jacket who opened the proceedings was. He walked in the show as well, but it was his dulcet tones and soulful delivery that captured the audience’s attention.
As it turns out, Pyer Moss’s Kerby Jean-Raymond isn’t the only fashion person excited about Brent Faiyaz. The Los Angeles–based R&B singer was also invited to Riccardo Tisci’s Burberry show in London last week, an experience that he captured on film exclusively for Vogue.
Faiyaz sweated it out in an unusually sweltering front row, brushing shoulders with the likes of Rosalía and Dua Lipa. He seemed to like the stylish swirl, although he realizes that Planet Fashion can sometimes feel very far away from the real world. “How would people behave if everyone in the world could afford to dress this fancy all the time?”
