Festivities may look a little different this year, but you can be just as stunning as ever.
Hey, 2020's been weird. That's not news, but something that is of note: the holiday season this year just hits different. Whether you're going all virtual, social distancing at small outdoor gatherings, or quarantining with a specific crew, there's a big chance you won't be able to see everyone you love to see this time of year like you normally would. That kinda sucks. But you know what doesn't have to suffer because of it? Your 'fit.
The holidays are a chance to be fancy for those of us who don't dress up often—especially in These Unprecedented Times™—and we shouldn't miss out on that glam vibe just because Zoom doesn't show us from the chest down. If you've been craving some glitz and flash, here's how to still smash your lewk...
But first...what's your vibe? Choose your mood, then we'll tell ya which look suits you best:
Deck the halls yourself with new shit.
Now's the time to experiment with your whole aesthetic. Try out some hue mixing that you haven't been able to before, whip out some funky embroidery or some stand-out puff sleeves. The stakes are low, since there may not be anyone in person to see you. But also, once you commit to that new 'fit, pretty sure you're gonna love the whole vibe. If that's the case, don't worry if no one's there IRL to see your ~transformation~—that's what Instagram is for. Hot tip: Invest in a ring light tripod, then you can chronicle all your getups in their best possible lighting
Pile on the glitter, why don't ya?
It *is* the holiday season, my friend—if you haven't been sparkling it up all year, now's the MF time. BTW is this you on NYE or a fabulous '80s starlet primping for her first red carpet????
While you're at it, make sure you turn heads.
Aka, add a lil ruffle and times it by four. Bc if we can't ring in the New Year with all our favorite people, we may as well stun in our most extra lewks. (Also, you know what they say: "Buy all your home decor to match your outfits." That way, you'll get compliments on all your *effortless* coordinating.)
Get thyself an interesting LBD.
True, it's weird out there, but that doesn't mean the safe black dress you wear for everything is the mood. This wild-child bb just feels so much better, you know?
Oh yeah, and don't forget to dress your bottom half.
I know, party on the top and pajamas on the bottom is kinda Zoom's thing, but this one should be a head-to-toe situation. Your holiday challenge: Show off a full length 'fit on a chest-up screen. Honestly, these satin slacks deserve the attention! So get up and refill your drink to make sure everyone on the call gets a full view. (Secret upside though: The Zoom people still can't tell if your nail polish is wet.)
PSA: You can choose something snuggly—as long as it still fits the vibe.
"Cozy" and "fancy" can totally go together. I mean, just look at this fuzzy knit top and sequin skirt. That's some additional cause for celebration right there, if you ask me. Have your fries...and burgers too.
If you're not screaming "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" at least your outfit should.
Yess, frills! Yes, dots! Yes, more shiny satin! Throw it all on and turn all the heads (virtually or otherwise). Basically, wear a dress like this one and BE the whole damn gift.
*Clears throat.* In conclusion, if you really missed dressing up all year long, def don't sleep on that festive spirit, even in your clothes. Your psyche, your friends and fam, and also your feed will thank you for it.
